Tamboti game lodge

We were lucky enough to pop off to a game farm for a night as well. There is a new big 5 game farm just an hour north of Joburg, called Dinokeng. It was a great couple of days but unfortunately not one of the big 5 to be seen! The boys enjoyed it anyway but were a little disappointed. Dylan really wanted to see the lions and the elephants!

Elephant poep (much to the boy's delight!)!

tourists

The sun came out again on our last day in Umhlanga. We had to be at the airport at lunch time so we headed off to the beach very early. We got a few strange looks on our way down. We were in our costumes and everyone we passed, out for their morning stroll or jog, was warmly dressed. Come on, the sun was shining and it was warm(ish)... and we were tourists, desperately seeking some sunshine!
The boys playing their favourite game of Catch with the sea.

 Admiring their shadows
 This is fun!

Marko gets in...
I was trying to show how big the waves were here. They actually towered above his head but because the beach dipped down into the water, and I wasn't prepared to lie down, it was a bit hard to capture it.
Travis was really impressed with the big waves!

Photo's from another angle... it really was pretty early still!
Tourists!

Ushaka Marine World

We spent one rainy day at Ushaka. What a great place.
First we watched the Seal show which was Travis's favourite.

Then off to the dolphin show

And after lunch we headed into the aquarium. It is very well done. It is all in the boat below here and is built to look like it's a shipwreck underwater.
The boys loved the sharks (and the feeding of them) the best!

big, black clouds

One of our more rainy days.
We headed out for a walk along the promenade. The sea was pretty wild and the sky, very dark! I love a good thunder storm.

(I had to lighten these a little so you could actually see our faces! They looked a bit like the one above.)

the beach

There isn't really a whole lot to say about the beach that hasn't been said before! What's not to like about a giant sandpit, warm sea with big waves and a space so big you can run until you just can't anymore!? Needless to say the boys loved it as usual.

 Time out from swimming

Granny and Grandpa enjoyed their weekend with us. It's a lot more built up then it was when we went there on school holidays, but it is still the perfect kids holiday destination!
 On our way for lunch
 and milkshakes!

Then back to the beach. We took full advantage of all the sun!
 T is for Travis
Very proud of his name.

when the water started to wash it away we had to write a new one!

Dylan joined in the fun
and was quite pleased with the result too!
