aye aye cap'n

Yesterday morning we went out to play,

to climb stairs,

and to enjoy a cafe mocha and a bis(cuit), mmm.
Ok, not the best selftimer ever taken, but whatever.

stair crazy

It started in Dubai. If Dylan sees a staircase, he just has to climb it.

Once he gets up to the bedroom level, he loves to close me out and then stand at the gate peeping through, giggling.

one of those days

Yesterday was grey and wet so we, (ok, I) didn't really want to go outside and play. We spent most of the day at home. Besides our usual fun and games, we made some new animal friends, ventured out onto the little balcony to watch cars, bicycles, trucks, people and dogs pass by, and played peek-a-boo behind the curtains. Dylan then treated me to his best blowfish faces... I have no idea where he learnt to do this... really... no idea!

little yellow post-it to self

Do not laugh when Dylan does something silly while eating!

Last night Dylan had grapes after dinner and decided to eat them without using his hands. It was very funny the first time...

toilet paper

we all know what toilet paper is supposed to be used for... this is what Dylan does with it these days, while dad is in the shower
Maybe he was trying to say something...? 5 minutes later his nappy needed a change.

Happy Mothersday

...and what a lucky mama I am to have such a gorgeous little boy!

Because the weather is still so fantastic we spent the day at Marko's parents camping site. They are staying on a very large farm in Rockanje, about half an hour's drive from Rotters. Dylan had a great time all day, in the babypool, on the bikes and running around on the grass playing with Ma(x) and his cousins who joined us in the afternoon for a braai. As usual, the combination of good company, good food, good weather and a couple of glasses of prosecco, all added up to a pretty excellent day!
p.s. I miss you mom (and dad of course), hope you had a lovely mothersday. IOU a big hug and a kiss, and a big cappuccino and an appelflap when I see you in June... which luckily isn't too far away now!

mama!

Yay, my son finally calls me mama! In fact he's been walking around saying mama, mama, mama all week now. I love it! He likes to point us out on the little ato (photo) I keep next to my bed.

He also says vovo (yoghurt!?), boe (book) and doh (door).

He can (r)oar like a lion, (m)iaow like a cat and ee-ah like a donkey.

Cars go toet-toet; bicycles, trip-trap and clocks, tick-tock.

allo Liza

When Dylan hears a noise from the balcony next door, he immediately starts with a friendly allo, allo, allo and then goes to see what's happening on the other side of the fence. Here he is this evening, being nosy... um, I mean inquisitive.

splish-splash

On Sunday, we went for brunch at Hotel New York and Dylan and Nicholas enjoyed running around on the grass and just generally being out and about in the sun. We had a braai in the afternoon, and to keep the little monkeys entertained we filled a bucket (ok, a washing basket) with water and let them splash around. They loved it! They got along really well this weekend and seemed to enjoy each others company, which bodes well for all the skiing and summer holidays to follow in the years to come...
