why didn't anybody tell me it's so cold?

Today is the first cold, wet and miserable day in a while so I thought I would cheer myself up with a couple of photo's taken by Petra during the summer. Dylan eating his first ice-cream... I am not sure I can say that he enjoyed it, in fact, you just have to mention ice-cream to him and he pulls this funny face again!

Rosalie Sophia!

Dylan's cousin, Rosalie Sophia, was born on Wednesday. We popped in to see her, her sister Manon and her happy and proud parents Sander and Wendy. I had forgotten how so very tiny they are when they are born! Very sweet!

At the creche

Picking Dylan up at creche yesterday, he was happily sitting on the couch listening to Odet reading a story. Try and spot him... the blond hair is popular at his creche!
(the photo was taken with my camera phone... so quality isn't too good)

tea for one

We bought Dylan a new table and chair, mini size. He loves it. Here he is, very definitely, not looking at the camera.

auto's

Here Dylan is playing another new game. This one was also made up by him and I am NOT invited to play, or even sit nearby. I do have to build the tunnel though, and do the repairs... lucky me!

Nin-nin auto, mama tuck!

Dylan has invented a new game, and he can't play it alone! These are the rules I have managed to figure out so far:

1. Each person has to be dragging a toy.
2. At least one of the toys must be the auto so that we are always accompanied by music.
3. Nin-nin decides who plays, and when.
4. Nin-nin decides who gets to pull the auto, tuck, (s)nail or (cater)pillar.
5. Nin-nin decides which direction we should go in and points it out while shouting 'dere'.
6. Just because Nin-nin stops to do something else, doesn't mean the game is over.
7. Just because Nin-nin is driving Tata , doesn't mean the game is over.
8.Mama does props: repairs, righting of toys, picking up of dropped strings, removing objects from chosen path.
9. Commands must be carried out immediately or auto, tuck, nail or pillar get beaten on the floor.
10. Nin-nin decides when game is over... (this can be helped along by the appearance of the boo-ie (biscuit) tin.)
Wanna play?

Kite surfing

today we join my friend Henny to go to the beach. Henny is a sports fanatic and his latest is kite surfing. it wasn't really beach weather, but you can always play in the sand!
watching the surfers and getting wet at the same time. the water wasn't even cold!
Henny walking back with Dylan being busy with his bucket. notice the different (dry) clothes he's wearing
inspecting the kite, to make sure everything is still in order
all in all a busy morning, Dylan fell asleep in the car after 2 minutes....

(h)at mama, at!

Dylan loves wearing this old cap of Marko's... Whenever he sees it he pats his head and says hat mama, hat.

He also loves to zoot around, very fast, on his tata (tiger). I was very pleased when he started doing this a couple of weeks ago as before he figured out he could push himself, i had to do all the work!

appel eten

At about 5pm everyday, Dylan eats apple.

He loves apple-time, especially when it is peeled and sliced by papa!

Boats

we went to a boat show last wednesday in IJmuiden (the Hiswa), to check out Rob's new boat. the weather was typical Dutch: strong wind and occasional rain... not the best time to be out and about, but we still enjoyed it. Here's opa on the boat

Now all Rob needs is people to buy this boat!

Let the sun shine!

Dylan's first sentence (a couple of weeks ago) was, most appropriately, about food: appel eten. Most of his sentences seem to be in dutch: stoel zitten, boek lezen , papa toe, mama helpen etc. He's a little mimic and I think he learns at least one new word a day.

Ok, that had absolutely nothing to do with the photos I am about to post...

I love sunshine! Last weekend was possibly our last (and first!?) really good one and we enjoyed as much time outside as we could.

mr helpful

Dylan loves to help us out with everything, (un)loading the dishwasher, carrying groceries, wiping the table, putting the bike away etc. Here he is helping out on Saturday afternoon. We had a big cleanup session with all the neighbours, followed by a bbq.
