klap eens in je handjes

It's amazing how many new things Dylan seems to learn each week. He is a little monkey and is climbing onto everything! He is also walking a few steps all on his own. When he thinks he has done something clever, like climb onto his chair, he claps for himself, so cute! He can also do the actions to a dutch children's song...Klap eens in je handjes, blij, blij, blij,

op je lieve bolletje, allebei.

handjes in de hoogte... (handjes in je zij, zo varen de scheepjes voorbij!)

dawl

Dylan said his first word last week: ball. He actually says 'dawl' though. He can also say papa. (no, no mama yet!) Also his 8th tooth has come through after a lot of drooling and chewing on everything in sight. (4th on bottom.) Lastly, he weighs 9300g and is 74cm's long.

And yes, I know he needs a haircut!

Brrrr!

Winter has finally arrived! I don't think it is here to stay but we have had a very cold week with beautiful, blue skies and no rain in sight.

He is standing on his own, without any problem and although still not walking on his own, he is racing around the lounge at great speed behind his little blue cart. Forwards, backwards, around corners, turning around... no problem!

trip-trap

This is how Dylan used to go to school...
...now he travels in style, singing trip-trap, trip-trap all the way with papa!

ee i ee i oh

We finally had some sun this weekend so we went out for a cycle around the lake. Dylan loves being on the bike and smiles and sings all the time. We stopped off at the petting zoo. Dylan was quite excited to see all the animals and chased after the goats and lambs.

So Aunty Pam was here and it was loads of fun having her. She timed her vist well, to coincide with both Marko and Dylan's parties. We were quite sad to see her go but we will be seeing her again in Dubai, in 6 weeks.

His favourite trick the last couple of weeks is dropping whatever he is carrying on to the floor... just so he can pick it up again... He is much steadier on is feet and can stand on his own until he realises he is, then he laughs and sits very quickly.

I've heard it said but once or twice...a BIRTHDAY celebration is rather nice*

Thanks to everyone for making this day so lovely and birthdayish. For the sms's, emails and cards, the phone calls, visits and presents. We had a party in the afternoon and Dylan loved everything. He loved the decorations and the balloons; he loved opening and playing with the presents; he loved the visitors, big and small, specially the ones who walked him around everywhere; and he really loved his birthday cake.

Happy 1st birthday little one! May your life be filled with love and happiness, and all your dreams come true.
Lots of love, hugs and kisses from papa and mama.
