camping, in the cold

We decided to go camping in the May school holidays. I found some lovely huts on a farm in Bodiam, in England. The bonus being that Martin and Faye could come and join us, with their tent. It rained solidly for the two weeks leading up to our weekend away and so we went well prepared for the rain and freezing cold. I wish I could say that the prepartion hadn't been necessary, but it had! It was wet, extremely cold and muddy. In fact I am still very impressed that Martin and Faye pitched their tent at all! I am very glad they did though. It turned out to be a fantastic weekend with great company. It always makes me sad that we can't see them more often!

Our hut in the woods.
Dylan, hoping Nicholas and Daniel would arrive early...
Before we could have breakfast we had to pack away the bed. The boys thought this was great fun.
After breakfast we set off to explore the farm and it's surroundings.
It was cold, wet and muddy but very green and quite beautiful!

Dylan and Travis were very excited when The Roets family arrived on Saturday afternoon!
All the boys
The wood by the hut provided heaps of entertainment and the boys spent a lot of time playing, climbing and exploring!

We also spent a lot of time next to the fire!

On Sunday we decided to explore a bit and ended up at Hastings. It was a bit of a disappointment but the boys had a ball on the pebble beach...
...throwing stones into the water.

Back at the camping, the boys decided to build a hut.
No half measures, they started with the BIG logs!

I'm very strooooong!
Putting it all together.
Nicholas and Daniel add the finishing touches.
Show me your muscles....
Time for a well deserved rest, and a snack!

Bye-bye hut
and off we go to explore Bodiam castle!
