beschuit met 'vleermuisjes'

It's a tradition in Holland to eat beschuit met muisjes (sugar coated aniseed) to celebrate the birth of a child. Dylan loves it and likes to eat all the 'vleermuisjes' from his plate first, then he tackles the beschuit and then he cleans his plate again. He would then clean the floor with his tongue to get the rest if we would let him!

Travis and Rosalie

Amazing what a difference 9 months makes! Don't grow up to quickly Travis, take your time please!

hello sleepyhead

If anyone asked Travis what he would like to do all day, I think his answer would be ' sleep, curled up on papa's tummy!'Luckily for us, he does also ocasionally like to open his eyes and have a good look around.

...and ended

Travis came home again on Saturday night! We went back last night for a check up. Here are my boys, awaiting the results of the blood test... everything was fine, what a relief!

how the week began...

Monday: Travis with his sausage dog, a present from Dylan.
Eyes open!

Drying off after a lovely bath.

Tuesday: Life hasn't changed that much around here.
Wednesday: "Niet huilen baby, ik ben je grote broer."
Totally relaxed!

sunbed

Travis's liver isn't working very well yet, so yesterday we took our very yellow, little boy to hospital. He is now sunning himself on a sunbed (ok, it's a uv light) and although he doesn't seem to have any problem with it all, it was extremely difficult leaving him behind last night. This morning he was already doing a lot better and can hopefully come home on Sunday.
Dylan was rather impressed by the sunglasses... ...and the parking garage and the lifts and the steps and the big prams (wheelchairs) and the balloons and... Luckily, because there will be quite a few more visits in the next 48 hours.

Dylan meets his baby brother

This was Dylan's first meeting with Travis. He LOVES him and is fascinated by how small he is. The only thing he is not so sure about is the crying and whenever he holds Travis he makes it perfectly clear that if he cries, he goes back to mama...

Travis!

best thing since sliced bread

A week or two ago I was surprised and delighted when Dylan told me he loved me. Actually he said it in Dutch: ' Ik hou van je!' What made it all the more enjoyable is the fact that it was completely unprompted and that it's not something I taught him.

Half an hour later, still feeling warm and fuzzy inside, I gave him a banana. Instead of the usual thank you, he said 'Yipeee, Ik hou van bananas!'

The next day he added to the list, 'Ik hou van cereal, bread, mama and papa.' Nice to know we're rated right up there...

a rather big baby!

We're getting ready for our new arrival and Dylan is happily trying everything we unpack and put out. Here he is playing "baby Dylan" in his old car chair

Hope he won't object too much when the baby gets to use the car chair...

the future's so bright...

all mine

The lonely, grey car is the one I 'must' play with, the rest are for Dylan.

the yellow car!

One of the many reasons Dylan loves vsiting Petra and Rob!

mooooooo

On Monday we went to open day at one of the dairy farms not too far out of Rotterdam. This meant a tour of the farm and a chat to boer Schep...

...and then far more interesting for Dylan, 'driving' big tractors, moo-ing at cows and drinking/eating all the tasty dairy products on offer.
